The former Convent of Santa María de los Reyes is the result of the overlapping of civil, religious, and institutional architectures, intertwined with walls, courtyards, orchards, and gardens — a characteristic feature of Seville’s history. In addition to its historical significance, the complex holds remarkable architectural value, with the Mudéjar style standing out prominently. The uninterrupted presence of the Discalced Dominican nuns in the building for over three hundred years explains the resilience of its conventual typology over time. This continuity calls for an intervention that respects and builds upon the pre-existing system to adapt the site into the center for dissemination and research of architecture of the Andalusian Regional Government.
